UK - Significant evidence of regional variations in use of social network services, with Scotland in the lead

The Daily Record reports the results of a BT survey showingthat of those using the Internet there were differences across the UK in the use of social network services.
  • 48per cent in Scotland
  • 20per cent in Northern Ireland
  • 43per cent in Wales
  • 33per cent in the North East England
  • 39per cent in the South West
  • 45.7per cent in London
Social networks are equal to news and current affairs websites in terms of popularity in Scotland.

It is worth noting that there are variations between the nations and regions of the UK in the use of the Internet. This needs to be considered in understanding these figures.
